PROJECTS - Cabling Project History
Vortech has successfully completed a multitude of services for numerous organizations. Our clients include some of the area's most demanding mission-critical organizations, including Fortune 500 firms and U.S. Government agengies. Our client list includes:

QSSI/DOT Headquarters - Washington, D.C.
As a subcontractor to QSSI Vortech assisted in the installation of riser cable system for the 2 high rise buildings as well as the 5000 plus work stations. This required pulling fiber optic cable, installing connectors and conducting final testing.

Equinix - Ashburn, VA
This job was performed for a classified government agency which utilized 2 shifts a day over a 5 week period. The job required the installation of (568) 12 strand fiber optic cables, (2,000) category 6E copper cables with connections between 200 equipment cabinets. Also included in the scope of work is the relocation of an existing cable tray system, with additional new pathways to compliment the proposed layout.

In support of a national recognized human resources consulting firm, Vortech installed the required ladder track to support 250 Cat 5E PVC rated cables. This also included the provision of (32) 24 port patch panels to accommodate the 5E cabling. The entire job required 32 wire management panels to maximize the efficiency and flexibility of the entire system.

RSIS - Arlington, VA
As a subcontractor to RSIS, Vortech has completed a wide range of telecommunications projects from moves, adds changes to major network upgrades requiring installation of fiber optic cabling systems.

GovernmentOfficeBuilding - Columbia, MD
For this 250,000 square foot facility, Vortech installed the entire security and communications infrastructure, secure and non-secure, including the inside and outside plant pathways and fiber optic cabling.

Allen & Shariff/GSA/Bren Mar Project
Vortech performed base building telecommunications installation work which included over 200 workstations, 500 feet of four inch conduit, 12 strand fiber optic backbone, and a 200 pair voice riser cable.

National Institutes of Health Federal Credit Union - Rockville, MD
Provided electrical systems installation and telecommunications support for multiple branches and ATM’s. In addition, Vortech has provided upgrades to their main data center.

Geico Direct - Fredericksburg, VA
For this 500,000 square foot facility, Vortech has supported their moves, adds and change requirements for both electric and telecommunications. A cable tray system was installed above the existing equipment with approximately 500 Cat 5E inter-equipment cabinet tie cables for Geico’s new Internet Service Networking Division. Vortech has also installed a Lutron lighting low voltage power module which manages the lighting on all five floors.

CivistaMedicalCenter
Vortech designed and installed a completely new voice backbone system. This required installing new voice riser cables in conduits through the main floors of the hospital.

TKC Technology Solutions/Defence Security Services - Alexandria, VA
Installed 100 classified and unclassified workstations on the 3 rd floor. Provided 4 inter-floor 12 strand multimode fiber runs to connecting the data center to the IDF closets. This required the installation of a cable tray system under the raised floor in the Data Center to support inter-cabinet connectivity and backbone cabling. Vortech installed an APC Infrastructure 80KW UPS as well as in the Data Center to support the classified and unclassified network cabinets.

NIH Federal Credit Union - Rockville, MD
Installed 300 duplex workstation outlets between the 1 st floor branch location and the 5 th floor administrative offices. Each outlet consisted of 2 Category 6 plenum rated cables. In support of the network, Vortech also installed an APC Silicon 80KWsolution to support the 5 th floor 1,000 sq. ft. data center and an APC Infrastructure 40KW UPS solution to support the branch on the 1 st floor.

Ongoing Operations - Hagerstown, MD
Terminated and certified the existing infrastructure to support 150 workstations throughout the 10,000 sq. ft. facility. Vortech also supplied an APC Infrastructure 80KW UPS system to support the 800 sq. ft. Data Center.

Institutional Share Services (ISS) - Rockville, MD
Installed 500 workstation outlets between floors 1, 2, 4, & 5. These outlets consisted of two category 6 plenum cables for network connection. Vortech supplied racks and cabinets to support the multiple IDF closets throughout the building. Vortech installed a 12-strand multimode fiber backbone between floors to support the network infrastructure.

Security Engineering - Mt. Airy, MD
Provided cabling infrastructure in support of the facility’s 38 outdoor plant cameras. This included the installation of 300 feet of interduct which houses the fiber optic multimode cables. These cables were run from the main surveillance room and terminated in Hoffman enclosures that were tested for DSP power loss.
