PROJECTS - Electrical Project History
Vortech has successfully completed a multitude of services for numerous
organizations. Our clients include some of the area's most demanding
mission-critical organizations, including Fortune 500 firms and U.S. Government
agengies. Our client list includes:
Institute for Defense Analysis - Bowie, MD
Vortech provided and installed a 300 kva UPS and back-up battery cabinets for this mission critical facility.
Smithsonian - Herndon, VA
Vortech was instrumental in the design and build of this facility, including approximately 28,000 sq ft of office space and nearly 20,000 sq ft of data center. Beginning with a facility analysis, Vortech performed a physical inventory of all electrical, mechanical, security, and network infrastructure components. This assessment led to a design-build renovation. Vortech performed a complete electrical renovation, from general purpose power requirements for office areas to critical power and control requirements for data center applications. Also, Vortech installed all security pathways including backbone trough and branch conduits for devices throughout the facility.
Office of the District of Columbia - Washington, DC
Installed an APC 125kW/125kVA diesel generator to support the city’s main data center with the recommended generator pad. To effectively support the facility a 208/120V, 400amp feeder was run from the generator to the emergency input of the ATS. From the ATS we then ran a 208/120V, 400amp feeder to the reefed panel.
Lockheed Martin - Lanham, MD
Vortech provided and installed an APC 600kVA APC Symetra MW UPS, as well as 128 VRLA batteries. For this project Vortech provided the upfront engineering to determine the appropriate load and capacity requirements. The installation required cutover planning which entailed the provision of a stand-by generator to support the facility during the 72 hour cutover.
CSIE/DCPC - Bethesda, MD
Vortech provided electrical demolition and a complete electrical installation consisting of new riser feeders to critical and non-critical systems, critical equipment (UPS and PDU’s), custom designed lighting system, critical and non-critical branch circuits, and communications pathways.
Essex - Annaplois Junction, MD
This was a two-phase data center design/build project. The first phaserequired the demolition of all existing data center electrical feeds, UPS & batteries. We installed electrical feeds to numerous pieces of equipment (AHU, IFS Panel boards, etc.).For the second phase additional demolition to the data center was requiredl. Vortech provided power for the customer’s computer equipment as well as the computer grade HVAC equipment (Dry-coolers and pump packages). In addition Vortech installed power for various infrastructure systems such as lighting, modular furniture, and air conditioning. In addition we installed a grounding and EPO system. We also designed the communication pathways for both A and B phases. Vortech installed the complete fire alarm system for both A & B Phases.
